Join Jeremy Grant, Managing Director, Technology Business Strategy, Venable LLP in an exploration of role of the FIDO Alliance in standardizing phishing-resistant logins that make authentication simpler and stronger.

Jeremy Grant, a technology expert, explains the role of the Fido Alliance in standardizing phishing-resistant logins that make authentication simpler and stronger. Fido has three core objectives: creating standards for fishing-resistant logins, running certification programs, and running adoption programs to get the technology out to the masses. The Fido Alliance is a large group with more than 300 organizations actively involved. The goal of the alliance is to move beyond the traditional password-based authentication to phishing-resistant authentication, and hopefully password-free authentication at some point. Weak and stolen passwords are the main reasons for most cyberattacks. The Fido Alliance aims to address this problem through its strong authentication standards.

Key points:

  • The Fido Alliance is a technology association that standardizes phishing-resistant logins for simpler and stronger authentication;
  • The Alliance aims to move beyond traditional password-based authentication to phishing-resistant authentication and password-free authentication;
  • The Fido Alliance has over 300 organizations involved, including device and platform manufacturers, chip makers, and security vendors.
