Securing OT with Segmentation & Virtual Patching

Course
Enroll

Daniel Paré of Palo Alto Networks will discuss how segmentation and virtual patching can secure legacy OT systems more effectively than traditional updates, minimizing downtime and aligning with industrial security standards.

OT systems in critical infrastructure face significant security challenges from vulnerabilities in legacy systems and outdated software. Simply having visibility into these risks. Recommended security practices require organizations to manage these known risks, but relying solely on software/firmware updates to secure these devices is impractical due to the risk of updates disrupting OT systems and downtime constraints.

To address the limitations of traditional patching, the session will explore how segmentation and virtual patching techniques offer a more scalable and effective solution for securing OT systems in resource-constrained organizations. It will offer insights into requirements of compensating controls outlined in common industrial standards and discover recent innovations that enable efficient, large-scale operationalization of OT security and compliance. The session will further explore a comprehensive approach that integrates asset visibility, risk assessment and prioritization, contextual segmentation, and virtual patching techniques.
