Becky Pinkard analyzes how frameworks such as DORA are driving financial institutions toward proactive resilience strategies, yet basic security fundamentals still represent their greatest vulnerabilities.

Regulatory pressure has fundamentally shifted how financial institutions approach cybersecurity from reactive defense to proactive resilience planning. Since 2019, frameworks such as DORA have moved the conversation from "if" to "when" breaches occur, forcing organizations to demonstrate their ability to maintain critical business services under attack. Yet despite increased awareness and investment, basic security fundamentals remain the primary failure points.

In this session, Becky Pinkard, managing director of global cyber operations at Barclays, will examine:

  • Why banks and insurers must be prepared to withstand and bounce back from disruptions in light of regulations like DORA;
  • How leading firms are leveraging swift incident containment strategies to limit damage and keep attacks from spreading;
  • The critical need for investing in cybersecurity skills and resources to counter escalating threats amid industrywide staff shortages.
