Christian Soto Cerda examines emerging risks from industrial convergence including legacy system exposure and cloud dependencies, why traditional IT security fails in OT contexts, and transforming connectivity risks into security advantages.

Industrial hyperconnectivity is transforming manufacturing and critical infrastructure, but convergence of IT, OT, IoT and cloud systems introduces unprecedented security challenges. Legacy systems designed for isolation now face exposure through network connections, while cloud dependencies and proliferating IoT devices create visibility gaps that traditional IT security frameworks cannot adequately address in environments where physical processes and real-time operations are at stake.

Led by Christian Soto Cerda of Mainstream Renewable Power, the session will explore:

  • Emerging risks from industrial convergence, including legacy system exposure, lateral movement threats, cloud dependencies and operational visibility challenges;
  • Why traditional IT security approaches fail in OT contexts, and the need for governance structures with modular, segmented architectures;
  • Transforming connectivity risks into security advantages through operational resilience, automated defenses and enhanced incident response capabilities.
