Brendan Dowling explains government threat assessments, SOCI Act reforms outcomes, what nation-state actors like Volt and Salt Typhoon are targeting, and how Cyber Security Strategy Horizon 2 shapes resilience priorities.

Australia's critical infrastructure faces growing threats - and the rules governing how organizations respond are changing. In this session, the deputy secretary for critical infrastructure and protective security at the Department of Home Affairs explains what the national security community is seeing, why it matters, and what operators are now expected to do about it.

The session covers the government's threat assessment, the outcomes of the independent Security of Critical Infrastructure Act review, and what incoming reforms mean for risk management programs, compliance expectations and IT/OT separation.

The session will also cover:

  • How nation-state actors, including Volt and Salt Typhoon, are actively targeting OT environments and telecommunications infrastructure;
  • What the SOCI Act reforms and new critical systems network protection measures will require of your organization;
  • How Australia's Cyber Security Strategy Horizon 2 will shape national resilience priorities in the years ahead.
