Africa's regulatory landscape for data protection and cybersecurity is maturing rapidly and fragmenting in the process.
Nigeria's NDPR, Kenya's DPA, South Africa's POPIA and Ghana's DPA each impose distinct obligations, while global frameworks including GDPR, NIS2 and cross-border cybersecurity mandates from the AU and ECOWAS are layering additional requirements onto organizations operating across multiple jurisdictions. For multinational enterprises and regional financial institutions, navigating this intersection is becoming as important a capability as technical security. The session addresses how AI governance obligations are beginning to interact with cybersecurity compliance and what organizations should be doing now to prepare.
